INTERIORS ILLUMINATED

id+l is interior design + lighting

id+l studio (formerly Kerry Ellis Design) is a full-service interior and lighting design firm based in Sacramento, California. We specialize in custom residential interiors, boutique commercial spaces, and elevated restaurant design throughout Northern California, including Lake Tahoe.

With a deep understanding of both aesthetics and functionality, we guide projects from initial concept through to completion. Our services include space planning, full-scale interior and lighting design, project management, construction coordination, and expert lighting and interior design consultation.

Whether you're starting with a clear vision or just exploring ideas, id+l studio offers flexible consultation options to meet you where you are in the process.

At id+l studio, design isn’t just what we do, it’s who we are. We bring genuine passion, deep expertise, and creative energy to every project we take on.

With over 20 years of experience in interior and lighting design, founder Kerry Cochran has developed an intuitive ability to interpret and elevate her clients’ visions. We believe the design process should be exciting, inspiring, and collaborative, and we’re here as your trusted partner every step of the way, from initial concept to final installation.

Rooted in East Sacramento and deeply connected to Northern California’s design and building community, we work with a curated network of talented artisans, architects, builders, and trade partners. These long-standing relationships ensure that every detail, from finishes to furnishings to lighting, is expertly executed.

Interior Design

Whether you're seeking full-scale interior design services or a one-time consultation, id+l studio offers thoughtful, end-to-end solutions, from concept to completion.

We believe great design should be a reflection of the people who live in it. That’s why every space we create is highly personalized, grounded in your lifestyle, your values, and your aesthetic preferences. Whether your style leans warm and inviting, cool and serene, bright and energetic, or rich and moody, we tailor each detail to feel distinctly yours.

While our interiors are often magazine-worthy, they’re never driven by fleeting trends. We focus on creating timeless, livable spaces that bring joy, comfort, and a true sense of home.

Lighting Design

Lighting is often the most overlooked, yet most transformative, element of interior design. At id+l studio, we offer full-scale lighting design and consulting, whether as part of a larger interiors project or as a standalone service.

Have you ever stepped into a restaurant where the lighting makes the food, the people, and the atmosphere feel effortlessly beautiful? Or sat in a living room where everyone looks their best and no one wants to leave? That’s the power of well-executed lighting.

When done right, lighting quietly enhances every surface, every mood, and every moment. It can make your home feel warm and inviting, your office more productive (and flattering on video calls), and your favorite spaces truly unforgettable.

When it’s done poorly? The difference is instantly noticeable, washed-out complexions, harsh glare, distorted colors, and uncomfortable vibes.

Professional lighting design changes everything.
We take the guesswork out and bring intention to every bulb, beam, and glow — transforming your space from basic to extraordinary.

Consultations

Prefer to take the lead on sourcing, but need expert guidance along the way? id+l studio offers flexible consultation packages tailored to your needs, whether you're seeking insight on lighting, interior design, or both.

Our consultations start at just two hours and are perfect for clients who want a professional eye without committing to a full-service design package. We’ll help you make confident decisions, avoid costly mistakes, and move forward with clarity.

We are grateful for the many years she has made the spaces we live in impecable."

  • "Kerry is magic at looking at a space and reimagining the flow with the needs of the owner. Twice she has taken spaces that did not allow for additions and found clever and unique ways to vastly improve them for us. Not only making them more functional and livable, but also adding beauty. One home was a 1950’s Sacramento cottage and the next was a contemporary 1970’s home in Lake Tahoe. Kerry was able to help bring them to current aesthetics while retaining nods to their original eras."
